Teletech Labor Day Rock Fest w/ Bamboo..

Hugyaw Bacolod!

Teletech Labor Day Rock Fest with BAMBOO!

The ad said it would start at 7 PM. By 6:20, I arrived at the dorm where my cousin was staying so we could go together and watch the concert. By 6:30, we walked from St. Catherine's Dormitory all the way to Lacson Street, specifically, along Philippine National Bank. Yes, we did walk. The stage was across the street and there were two widescreens positioned on each side.

There already were a few people, maybe around 20, standing and waiting. We did the same. I was pretty amazed by all the lights on stage. One thing I didn't like was that it was really flashing onto my face and into everyone else's face, too. Very BRIGHT.
Epileptic? LOL. You could say that.

By 7 PM, it still hadn't started. More people were filling up the spaces. We waited and waited and waited. At about 7:40, two emcees came on stage. Finally! The guy emcee was doing a good job hosting, but the lady wasn't as good. I could see her hand shaking, while holding the card. And she was doing a bad job hiding her nervousness. I heard others at the back blurting out, "Ga kurug iya kamot..."[Her hand is shaking...] and "Pasmo?"

Enough of that.

All the people thought it was going to be Bamboo performing already. Instead, three bands who won 1st, 2nd, and the Champion titles of the Teletech Battle of the Bands here in Bacolod, performed first. Each band sang about 4 or 5 songs.

I forgot their names, except for the second band, which pretty much was easy to remember. They were called Ambot Ah [I Don't Know]. LOL. XD I guess, they really didn't know what to name their band. I was surprised to know that each band member of the three bands actually was an EMPLOYEE of Teletech. I thought they weren't connected to it. 

At about 9 PM, it was time. Bamboo was finally on. The drummer [Vic] was first on stage, followed by the bassist [Nathan] and the guitarist [Ira]. They did some brief sound check. Still, the crowd, particularly the girls, went somewhat ballistic. No, scratch that. They screamed-slash-squealed A.K.A. became wild. If you ask me, that's not new. It seems to belong to any gig or concert.

Then, Bamboo, the vocalist, came up on stage. Everyone went crazy. Of course, the screams were still present. And then, they began to play their first song, Probinsyana. I couldn't really hear anymore. The screaming was just too loud. People, including me, hang on to their “acclaimed” positions.

We literally felt like sardines in one huge can. There was one person in front of me who kept fanning herself with her handkerchief. The air that was produced from it would always give a whiff of that air onto my face. Thing is, I didn't care about the smell of sweat. No one did. We didn't care at all, whether we felt squished or felt the sweat of other peoples' arms. People just wanted to hear and see Bamboo!

Considering how 'tall' I actually am, I had to stand tiptoe almost the whole time. That makes it even harder and more painful and straining, with arms held high and concentrating on recording video clips on my cam. One other thing was when this girl from behind me put her arms behind my head, using my shoulders as her leverage or base, literally using me as her tripod so she could easily record using her cam. HUMAN TRIPOD ME. Grrreaaat.

Those people who got VIP tickets had a very good view of Bamboo. Lucky them! There was the grill, of course, to divide that area. I was at the fourth [crooked] row. By the time Bamboo was singing the last songs, I was in third. Yeah! :)
I think I got pushed forward.
But that was also the time my camera had the very last 14 seconds remaining. I decided to stop recording and enjoy the last of the gig. After that, we went to McDo to get a drink and eat. The after-effect of the whole thing hit us. We were starving and almost dehydrated. It's tiring and you get this sticky feeling. At least, aircon at last!

It's definitely a night to remember. Despite it starting late, it was really an astounding performance. Truly, way more than amazing. I really loved the way Bamboo perked up the crowd. He really sang every song enthusiastically and, well, to the highest level. :D And his trademark---his moves on stage, blew everyone away. LOL. It's just great to know that everyone was enjoying and having fun.

Nathan[bassist] and Ira[guitarist] also interacted with the crowd. :) And the drummer[Vic] was really great as well. He can hit those drums like WHOA! XD
One word can describe the whole concert: AWESOME.

When we rode a jeepney home, I looked back on stage. It was empty, obviously. Some guys were already starting packing up the set. On one widescreen, a previous Bamboo concert was playing. People were still hanging around. Some were sitting on the PNB grounds. Others were on the sidewalks. Other people stayed at the nearby Lagoon. But most of the people were at Chowking, McDo, and Dunkin’ Donuts. Yeah, they needed refreshments. But I’m sure, behind the munching and drinking, they still wanted to see more, including me.

Now, I'm interested to do this one thing: Learn to play bass. It seemed so easy when I saw Nathan play it. Fascinating. Rawr. XD

I uploaded two already on Youtube, but I hate it that the quality of each video changes, but the sound is still fine, though. XB
I'm not done yet with the uploading...
